As I've posted many, many times before, I'm a foster-mom for Missouri Pitbull Rescue. Right now we are really busy! (when aren't we?) We are looking for volunteers who don't necessarily want to foster, but can donate some time to help out the rescue. We're looking for people to:
Answer emails, run errands, walk kennel dogs, attend fundraisers, write articles about pit bulls, write grants, MPR promo...and the list goes on.
If you have an interest in animal rescue, or just becoming a member of a local group, please check us out: http://www.mprgroup.net/misc/volunteer.html
If you decide to volunteer, just fill out the application and one of the other volunteers will contact you.
THANKS!
My mother is a selfish idiot. Mrs. "I have no money" emailed me today to show me what she's up to. The 'tard and her 'tard husband are buying cat number 6. Not rescuing, not adopting, BUYING. According to the website link she sent me, they've paid at least a $500 deposit for this kitten (who knows how much it will actually total).
Not that the kitten isn't cute, but damn! $500 (or more)! I can think of plenty of places that have lonely homeless kittens to take home for a small adoption fee! And think, if you take $500 x 6 cats-- how many animals that would actually help!?! (and i'm tired of hearing mom bitch about not having money, then pulling stunts like this)
On a better note, here are some WONDERFUL groups that could use help, or a better place to find your animals. Help stop kitten (and puppy) mills!
Siamese Rescue: The Siamese Rescue website provides a group of individually operated non-profit Rescue Organizations the opportunity to engage in a common purpose and to come together at one Internet presence. Each organization represented here is a separate non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation with its own Board, policies and procedures, but working towards a common goal - to rescue homeless and abandoned Siamese cats and rehome them in carefully screened, permanent situations.
Cat Rescue Inc: Cat Rescue is a 501(c)(3), home based, No-Kill animal rescue group dedicated to finding safe & loving homes for as many cats as we can throughout Hampton Roads. We receive many calls from cat owners who need to find new homes for their feline companions, concerned citizens who find a litter of newborn kittens and from progressive-thinking municipal animal control agencies who want to save a cat from being euthanized.
Purebred Cat Rescue: This Purebred Cat Breed Rescue Website has a very specific mission to support Purebred Cat Breed Rescue efforts. Purebred Cat Breed Rescue involves the rescue of both pedigreed cats and "copycats". Purebred Rescue organizations are usually composed of people who are expert in identifying the various breeds of cat and dealing with the specific needs of the breed(s) that they rescue. They aim to not only promote & rescue purebred cats, but also endeavor to place these purebred cats into caring, loving homes for adoption.
OR check your local animal shelter or humane society! These places have plenty of loving animals looking for a home.
I found this search engine that donates to your prefered charity everytime you search! I love it! I chose Wayside Waifs (a local animal rescue) as my charity. What a great idea!
