Our foster dog, Blue Ice, was adopted today! I was not ready for it at all. The application originally came in for another dog, so i didn't even pay attention to it. I was out at a family picnic when the head of the rescue group called, and wanted to do the homecheck asap with Blue. We gave her the code to get into the house, and she picked Blue up. I didn't think anything of it. A lot of times peole will want to meet a dog, then think it over. Well, the check went really well, and they decided to keep Blue! I didn't get to say goodbye :-( I hope he loves his new home, and they take extra-good care of him.
Butterball has been wandering the house looking for Blue ever since we got home. Blue has been her playmate since the month after she came to live with us (5 months now!). The house is a lot quieter now without Blue and Butters tussling about!

This is my foster puppy Butterball. Of course she is in my life currently, but i am tempted to foster fail-- which means to adopt her myself. If I do that, I may not be able to foster other dogs in the future. Its a difficult decision. This baby has been with me (of & on due to adoption failures) since she was 8 weeks old-- she's 7 months old now. I love her.
My birthday started off with a bang. My foster pup, Butterball, developed hives yesterday. We kept an eye on her all day (and kept in contact with the board members of the rescue group). Since the hives weren't bothering her, we were trying to wait until today to take her to the vet. Well, at 2:15am today I woke up because she was wheezing. Her poor little face was all swollen, plus she had hives all over her body!
We jumped out of bed and drove all the way across town to the 24 hr emergency vet. They gave her a couple shots and now she's back to normal. After all that drama, I called into work and slept in. Now I'm getting ready to take my other foster dog to the vet for a checkup.
Meet our new foster puppies, Pecan Pie and Butterball. They were named after thanksgiving foods because Missouri Pitbull Rescue retrieved them on Thanksgiving Day.
These little guys came to my house yesterday. They were from a litter of seven, which had just been weened from mom and now has their first round of shots. The other pups went to different foster homes since the pups are getting too big for one person to house all seven. All the pups are healthy and will be ready for adoption soon.
We are working on house breaking them, and they are doing pretty well considering their age. Of course we've had a few accidents in the house, but the are getting the route down that outside means bathroom time. Not bad for 24 hours of training.
These little girls love to chew! I just got them each a puppy-size nylabone. Instead of chewing the nylabone they keep trying to chew on the box they came in :-) These two have so much energy. Its only 7:30 and i'm completely worn out!
I've posted a lot more photos of these guys on my flickr account.
