The local media caught wind that MPR's Celebrity Scoop Fundraiser had to be canceled due to threats received by the Maggie Moo's store. I appreciate all the great publicity it's bringing to MPR, but I wish they would remember to thank Maggie Moo's! The manager and staff at that store were great to our group. Even though the event was canceled, they are still making the donation to MPR-- plus they have to deal with all the phonecalls! I think everyone needs to take a deep breath, and calm down.

this event was "canceled" due to some ignorant people making threatening phone calls to the Maggie Moo's. Even though the Celebrity Scoop isn't happening, i'm still going! Join me and lets show those idiots we won't be scared off!
Please come and join Missouri Pit Bull Rescue!!
Thursday March 6th from 6-9pm at Maggie Moos Independence Commons 19130 E 39th Street Independence MO.

Come out for a sweet treat and support our Pitties!!
Lots of people don't have the ability to give money or have time to volunteer outside the home to help charities, but I've found two simple ways to help.
AWG Brands (Always Save & Best Choice) will donate .03 per UPC to a non-profit charity. (the charity has to turn in the labels) Missouri Pitbull Rescue is now collecting the labels :-) If you would like to help our group, just mail any of the Best Choice or Always Save labels to our address:

All it costs you is the stamp!
Another way that is easy (and FREE) to help is using Goodsearch, a yahoo search engine. For every search you make, Goodsearch will donate money to your designated charity (and they have thousands to choose from). Before I became involved with MPR, I used Goodsearch to help the Humane Society.
It is cold and nasty outside. Its warmed up a tad, so its no longer icy, but the wind is cold enough to cut right through you.
I would love to stay inside today by the fireplace reading a book. All warm and cuddly next to a dog (or three), and maybe even sneak in a nap.
Unlucky for me, I have been designated the volunteer to drive from my house to three different locations to put up holiday fundraiser posters for MPR. Not that i would normally mind, but today is a suck day for it! Last night a friend and fellow volunteer came over and help me with the posters. They didn't turn out too bad, but I'd rather let someone come pick them up from my house!
You can help Missouri Pitbull Rescue earn money, just by going out to dinner! (or lunch) Just print off the coupon, take it with you on November 15 and Uno Chicago Grill will donate up to 20% of your check to MPR!

Yesterday was our Scoot for a Cure ride all over Kansas City. We had an excellent time. The routes we scooted were mostly back roads, and a lot of rural areas-- really beautiful. The weather was goregous! Low humidity, 80 degrees and sunny. What more could you ask for?
I'm really thankful for all the riders who showed up, and the help from our sponsors. Everyone was great. We raised $466.82 for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
We had such a fantastic time, we're going to do this again next year. Mark your calendar for the second Saturday in June!

Oh-- on a side note, make sure you have GOOD sunscreen.
Even if you reapply with crappy stuff, you still get burned. Ask me how i know! (see the lovely untanned spot where my purse strap was? i'm so cool)
Join us! If you don't scoot, but know someone who does-- tell them! www.scootkc.com for details
You can make donations to JDRF for the ride at City Grounds Coffee Shop.
